Background Info

In all of my running around, sending emails, and making phone calls I realized that I haven't given you any background info on the play. Well, finally here goes:

In "Unaware" the beautiful Jodi-Ann Geddes, magnificently portrays Tieondra, a smart and extremely inquisitive young girl struggling with a not so perfect home life and an older more advanced boyfriend. She is trying to focus on the future and the positive things in her life however, the world that she lives in causes all types of afflictions and issues to plague her teenage world. Tieondra is currently dating Jesean, a quiet guy that is easily led astray due to his own set of issues and family problems. Portrayed by the equally ambitious and talented Matthew Morel, Jesean is trying to make a way for himself through a life of hustling. He always keeps Dutch close by and trys to keep Morgan as far as possible. They have a small group of friends that are all extremely active and uninformed when it comes to serious life issues. Bianca and Marisole portrayed by Chantelle Cousins and Jacqueline Garcia, are Tieondra's best friends. Sworn fri-enimies, these two girls find themselves caught up in a tangled web that neither will quiet know how to release themselves from. As the play takes on interesting and surprising twists and dips, each characters issues and connections to one another will emerge. Zakia Howard is the director of this exciting and ground breaking stage play "Unaware". Being no stranger to the entertainment and event industry, she has finally decided to take the words from the pages to the stages in a brand new in your face approach to teen awareness. This play will be accompanied by a runway fashion show, fusing both theater and fashion into a mega entertainment event. The talented ensemble cast includes various new and seasoned actors such as, Shakirah Demesier, Lamar K. Cheston, Sherwin X.L., Jazmine Hill, and Johnny. Guaranteed to leave it's footprint in history this is going to be a must see play for people of all ages.

Greetings Everyone, The cast has been selected and the rehearsals have begun. My apologies for not keeping you in the loop, but it is extremely time consuming being the writer and director of a production. The casting process was very interesting and a true test of patience. I enjoyed every moment and it was a true learning experience for my crew and staff. Here are a few steps that I always follow during the casting process:
  • Finding a location, easy accessibility is key. If you want to get the maximum amount of people to audition, you must have a prime location near mass transit.
  • Invitation, the rule of two is key. Always remember to invite twice as many people that you expect to show up to the audition.
  • Prepare, advance preparation is key. Make sure you have all paperwork and necessary items ready and in order the day before the audition.

These three steps should help out anyone that is new to the casting process and is looking for a few simple tips to help out.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. Stay tuned for the next posting, rehearsals.....
